Our Services

We seek to partner with other organizations in the community, with the gaming industry, and with the Commonwealth of Massachusetts to introduce the following services.

Gaming and Addiction Education

SAS, Inc. will review, collect, analyze, and catalogue all available studies and research on gaming addiction in Massachusetts, especially the most recent UMass Amherst ten-year study of gambling in the state. We will make the pertinent findings more easily available to, and understandable by, the public, so that everyday citizens are informed about the process of addiction and its negative effects on those exposed to it and affected by it.

It took decades to properly educate the public about tobacco and alcohol as harmful, addictive substances, but the effort was ultimately very successful. Shifting public attitudes about smoking and excessive alcohol consumption, especially among young people, is one of the great public health accomplishments in history.

SAS, Inc. believes that creating and maintaining a comprehensive list of all community resources, public and private, free or paid, that can help address group and individual problems with gambling addiction is a productive step in the right direction. It helps those in immediate need while a more comprehensive, long-term program to reduce gambling addiction is designed and implemented.

Addiction Treatment

SAS, Inc. will create a fund, established within IRS and state laws, to provide financial resources to people who cannot otherwise afford treatment. It will serve those whose treatment is not covered by health insurance or other programs and who have no financial resources of their own, with priority given to Massachusetts casino rewards card holders.

Free program participation

Free participation in contracted programs from local medical and mental health professionals and other qualified groups specializing in addiction counseling.

Individual grants

In certain cases, supplemental grants to help uninsured individuals pay for individualized programs when their needs go beyond group sessions or publicly funded programs.
